There were two Meneely bell foundries. The old Meneely foundry was estalished by Andrew Meneely in 1826. The Troy Meneely Foundry was established by Clinton Meneely after the civil war. Andrew and Clinton were cousins. Their most famous bell hangs in Independence Hall. The troy plant had a reputation for its magnificent copies of the Liberty Bell. The Meneely foundries produced church bells from 400 to 7,500 pounds.
